Reference: BG Verkehr - Intranet with User Connection
BG Verkehr is the statutory accident insurance for companies in the transport industry and postal logistics.
The Berufsgenossenschaft der Transport- und Verkehrswirtschaft is active in the transport, traffic, postal logistics and telecommunications sectors. Its competence concerns the prevention of occupational accidents, occupational diseases and health hazards.
The provision of rehabilitation measures and the granting of financial compensation in the event of occupational accidents or diseases are also among the main tasks of BG Verkehr.
The new BG Verkehr intranet
The Employer's Liability Insurance Association for Transport and the Transport Industry must be there for its members quickly and unbureaucratically. To ensure that even the most extensive business processes run as smoothly as possible, BG Verkehr relied on the expertise of AM GmbH. We developed the new intranet for the internal networking of employees.
The Success Story
BG Verkehr needed a modern intranet for internal company processes, a quick and easy transfer of information within the responsibilities and a news section with articles about the work of the Berufsgenossenschaft.
AM GmbH developed the portal on the basis of the CMS Liferay. In addition to the UX design of the intranet, our web design team also developed and implemented the logo and the user interface.
With an editorial interface and the e-mail component Newsletter2Go, important information channels of BG Verkehr were integrated.
In order to ensure the high quality of the work with the intranet, instructions with practical case studies were available. Further training courses ensured smooth work with the new system.
In addition, regular web conferences were held for questions and problems that arose within a transition period.
The required user connection via a secure VPN connection was implemented with the help of Active Directory (AD) and a single sign-on authentication.
The technology was integrated in such a way that a secure login via AD identifier and password is possible even without a VPN connection.

The long development period was caused by an extensive version change in the CMS Liferay, which was directly included in the development work of AM GmbH after reviewing it and in consultation with BG Verkehr.
A second challenge was caused by the emerging pandemic with its restrictions on working life.
