Safe Transition For Companies
Windows 11 Migration: Taking Action After Windows 10 Support Ends
by Sebastian Lorenz | Date: October 14, 2025

Since October 14, 2025, Microsoft has stopped providing security updates for Windows 10. This could pose a minor to major challenge for your company, as computers running Windows 10 will pose an ever-increasing security risk in the future. In this article, we take a closer look at Windows 11 migration. You are definitely not alone with this problem!
Looking ahead, the switch to Windows 11 will be inevitable in order to ensure the long-term protection and compatibility of your work computers. The AM GmbH supports companies of all sizes in the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11. We can carry out the migration for you, from planning to technical implementation. In addition, we also take care of updates and support for your operating systems and software.
What Are The Benefits Of Upgrading To Windows 11 For Businesses?
With Windows 10 support ending in mid-October 2025, not only will security-related updates cease, but so will operating system adjustments for drivers and application software. This increases the risk of system failures and malware attacks. Potential data loss due to missing upgrades can be very costly for businesses. This is a serious problem, especially when dealing with sensitive information and personal data.
Windows 11 sets the usual standards in this regard: the system is based on a more modern architecture, uses current hardware more efficiently and increases system security. The new user interface of Windows 11 also offers new opportunities for productive work. Microsoft is once again taking over the monthly security updates for Windows 11. Your switch will therefore not only be a technical necessity, but also an investment in the future viability of your company's IT.
Your Benefits With Windows 11
- Increased security through modern architecture and new hardware protection mechanisms
- Better performance and resource utilisation on current devices
- Familiar user interface with new features for productive working
- Long-term support from Microsoft for security updates

Professional Transition From Windows 10
Successful migration to Windows 11 begins with a structured analysis of your IT systems. The AM GmbH conducts a detailed inventory. We check which of your devices meet the technical requirements, which applications are affected, and where the special requirements of individual departments need to be taken into account.
This preliminary analysis forms the basis for a smooth transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Especially in IT environments with complex structures, targeted planning allows potential compatibility issues to be easily identified and avoided. In the end, you get back devices that are up and running and have been tested.
The Sticking Point Of Migration: The TPM 2.0 Security Module
Windows 11 requires a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0. This security module protects sensitive data by securely storing cryptographic keys and securing the start-up of the operating system. It prevents unauthorised software or manipulated components from being loaded during start-up.
If TPM 2.0 is missing on older devices, we will be happy to advise you on how to deal with this. Options include hardware upgrades or special migration solutions that enable a secure transition to Windows 11. In any case, we will ensure that your new Windows 11 installation retains all the necessary security features.
UEFI Secure Boot In Windows 11 To Protect Against Rootkits
Another security feature of Windows 11 is mandatory UEFI Secure Boot. This technology ensures that only trusted, digitally signed software is loaded when the system starts up. This effectively prevents tampering with the boot process (such as rootkits).
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) Secure Boot is another component of the Windows 11 security architecture alongside TPM 2.0 and provides additional assurance of the integrity of your company's IT systems. UEFI Secure Boot is not a brand new Windows 11 feature, but it is mandatory during the boot process for the first time with the new operating system. We will, of course, check whether your hardware supports this feature.
UEFI Secure Boot is already used by Microsoft in Windows 8 and Windows 10. Both operating systems already supported the technology, but also ran in classic BIOS mode. This changes with Windows 11, further increasing system security for companies against rootkits and other malware.
Implementation Of Windows 11 Migration
The technical implementation of the Windows 11 migration depends on your company's existing IT infrastructure. In some cases, an in-place upgrade is recommended, whereby the existing operating system is updated directly without any loss of data or applications.
In other scenarios, a clean installation is recommended, in which Windows 11 is completely reinstalled to achieve optimal performance and stability. For larger companies, the migration often takes place in several stages, for example in pilot groups or rollout waves, in order to minimise disruption to ongoing operations.
The AM GmbH smoothly accompanies these processes from preparation and distribution mechanisms to documentation and follow-up. We have already implemented many small and large rollouts with hardware and software. In addition, we have many years of experience with extensive end device pools, professional licence management and all associated tasks.
We coordinate the requirements for your company with you in advance after analysing your IT environment and corporate structure. We are familiar with the special features and needs of branch offices as well as those of large industrial companies and multinational corporations.

What About Microsoft 365 On Windows 11?
The end of support for Windows 10 also affects the use of Microsoft 365 (M365) in your company. Although the applications will still work on your Windows 10 devices, this also comes with increasing security risks. Security updates for Microsoft 365 will be discontinued in October 2028!
Why is migrating to Windows 11 recommended for M365? This is the only way for companies to take advantage of the full functionality, performance and integration of Microsoft 365 apps and benefit from the new security architecture of Windows 11 (TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot and Virtualisation-Based Security).
After Migration: Security And Support
After completing the Windows 11 migration, we are also happy to take care of monitoring and updating your new systems. Following the switch to Windows 11, the AM GmbH offers comprehensive post-migration support, which includes regular system maintenance. This ensures that your IT environment is always up to date.
This ongoing support ensures that the transition to Windows 11 remains stable in the long term and that your daily work is not unexpectedly disrupted by outages.
Why is this support recommended? The switch to Windows 11 is more than just a routine software upgrade. It is a strategic step you are taking to ensure the IT security and future viability of your company. Those who make the switch now not only reduce risks, but also prevent forced conversions and unnecessary additional costs later on. The AM GmbH supports SMEs and large companies as a solution-oriented partner with clear analysis, planned implementation and reliable support.

FAQ About Windows 11 Migration
Which Version Of Windows 11 Is Right For My Business?
The choice of the right Windows 11 version depends on your requirements, the size of your company and your IT strategy. Microsoft offers different versions that vary in terms of functionality, security level and support duration.
During the consultation, we will compare the needs of your business with the Windows 11 versions offered by Microsoft and make a recommendation. The following overview provides a general classification in advance:
Windows 11 Pro is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that require basic security and management features. The operating system supports domain joins, group policies, BitLocker encryption and Remote Desktop. Each version of Windows 11 Pro comes with 24 months of support before a Windows update to the next internal version is required. This does not mean an upgrade to Windows 12 or similar. This version is intended for companies without dedicated system administration.
Windows 11 Enterprise offers the full range of features for medium and large businesses. In addition to the features of Windows 11 Pro, it includes advanced security mechanisms such as Windows Defender Credential Guard, Application Control and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR). It also offers centralised management options via Microsoft Intune or Group Policy, as well as comprehensive device and update control. Version support for Windows 11 Enterprise is valid for 36 months. This is an advantage for companies with clear lifecycle and compliance requirements.
Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 (Long-Term Servicing Channel) is intended for specialised systems, such as medical technology, production or research. These must be able to run stably for years without functional changes. LTSC versions receive up to 10 years of support, but do not receive feature updates or Microsoft 365 integration. Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 is therefore not suitable for productive and modern computer workstations in offices.
Which Is Better, In-place Upgrade Or Reinstallation?
With an in-place upgrade, the selected Windows 11 version is installed directly over the existing Windows 10 system. Programs, settings and data are retained. This is a quick and efficient solution if the system requirements are met.
A reinstallation, on the other hand, relies on a completely clean system. This is recommended for older devices or complex corporate environments. The AM GmbH will consult with you in advance to assess which method is the safest and most economical for your infrastructure.
Can The Windows 11 Migration Be Carried Out During Ongoing Operations?
Yes, we design carefully planned migrations to Windows 11 in such a way that your business operations continue without interruption. We ensure this, for example, with a staggered rollout in phases.
This includes setting up realistic test systems in advance of the migration, as well as rolling out in departments with low critical loads. The AM GmbH can also carry out flexible rollouts. We coordinate backup strategies with you and time automated deployment processes to completely avoid downtime in your company.
Can My Company Migrate To Windows 11 At A Later Date?
Companies that continue to operate after Windows 10 support ends risk not only security vulnerabilities but also serious compliance violations and system instability.
Incompatibilities with new applications and cloud services may also arise. Audits or data protection checks may also prove critical if systems that can no longer be updated are used productively. Timely migration to Windows 11 minimises these problems and ensures lower-risk IT in the long term.
How Is The Operability Of My Software Ensured?
Before rollout, all business-critical applications are tested for Windows 11 compatibility. The AM GmbH carries out structured app compatibility checks and creates a realistic test environment in consultation with you. In addition to software, operability, interfaces and workflows are also checked in this environment. This allows you to identify and plan any necessary adjustments to your IT or pending updates at an early stage, before Windows 11 goes live in your company.
What Happens If Devices Do Not Meet Windows 11 Requirements?
Devices that do not support TPM 2.0 or UEFI Secure Boot cannot officially install Windows 11. In such cases, we examine several options and advise you accordingly on the following procedures:
- Does hardware modernisation (isolated or comprehensive) make sense?
- Does virtualisation of older systems work in your company?
- Is the use of Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows 10 efficient?
The AM GmbH manages individual and complete end device pools for SMEs and large companies. You too can benefit from our hardware expertise! Find out more about our professional hardware management now.
What Role Do Microsoft Intune Or Endpoint Manager Play?
Both Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager are key tools for efficiently managing a Windows 11 migration. They enable automated deployment of operating systems and manage security policies. Device monitoring is carried out centrally. Companies already using Microsoft 365 can simplify and standardise the entire migration process to Windows 11 with Intune and Endpoint Manager. The AM GmbH can integrate these tools directly into your existing IT systems on request and take care of setup and maintenance.
